A Broken Morning That Fixed Itself
Một buổi sáng hỏng hóc rồi lại tự ổn
It was Monday, and a new week began as usual. I woke up at 8 AM and turned on my computer at 8:30 to start work. But things didn’t go as planned. The computer wouldn’t start. The power light was on, the fan was spinning, but the screen stayed completely black. I tried several times, but nothing changed, and the meeting time was getting closer.
Hôm nay là thứ Hai và một tuần mới lại bắt đầu như thường lệ. Tôi thức dậy lúc 8 giờ sáng và 8 rưỡi bật máy tính để làm việc. Nhưng mọi thứ không diễn ra như kế hoạch. Máy tính không thể khởi động. Đèn vẫn sáng, quạt vẫn quay, nhưng màn hình thì đen xì. Tôi thử đi thử lại nhiều lần nhưng không có gì thay đổi, trong khi giờ họp thì đang đến gần.
With no other choice, I called my team leader directly using my phone to explain the situation. I had to miss the morning work session. I asked about the process to fix the company laptop, but using the company phone made things harder. The screen was small, and it wasn’t easy to handle everything. Since I had never faced this before, I felt quite stressed and rushed.
Không còn cách nào khác, tôi gọi trực tiếp cho leader bằng điện thoại để báo tình hình. Buổi sáng hôm đó tôi đành phải vắng mặt. Tôi nhờ leader hướng dẫn quy trình sửa máy của công ty, nhưng do dùng điện thoại công ty nên màn hình nhỏ, thao tác rất bất tiện. Vì chưa từng gặp tình huống này nên tôi khá luống cuống và căng thẳng.
After spending the whole morning contacting different people, the earliest appointment I could get was at 2 PM. I was too eager, so I arrived at the company around 1:30. I walked around outside for a while, enjoying the cherry blossoms, then went in at 1:50. When I took out the laptop and turned it on—surprisingly, it worked perfectly fine.
Sau cả buổi sáng gọi hết người này đến người kia, lịch sớm nhất tôi đặt được là 2 giờ chiều. Vì quá sốt ruột nên 1 rưỡi tôi đã có mặt ở công ty. Tôi đi dạo một vòng bên ngoài, ngắm hoa anh đào rồi vào lúc 1 giờ 50. Khi lấy máy ra bật lên, thật bất ngờ là máy lại hoạt động bình thường.
The technician explained that it might have been due to residual electrical charge in the hardware. Since I had unplugged the device for hours, the remaining charge had dissipated, allowing it to function normally again. They also showed me how to safely discharge the power if it happens again in the future.
Người kỹ thuật giải thích rằng có thể do máy vẫn còn tích điện trong phần cứng. Vì tôi đã rút nguồn từ sáng nên lượng điện đó dần tiêu hao, giúp máy hoạt động lại bình thường. Họ cũng hướng dẫn tôi cách xả điện để xử lý nếu gặp lại tình huống tương tự.
In the end, I felt relieved that everything was fine. The laptop still worked, and I could continue with my plan to take the next day off to prepare documents for my permanent residency application. Sometimes, problems solve themselves in the most unexpected ways.
Cuối cùng, tôi cảm thấy nhẹ nhõm vì mọi thứ vẫn ổn. Máy tính vẫn hoạt động bình thường, và tôi vẫn có thể tiếp tục kế hoạch nghỉ ngày hôm sau để đi làm giấy tờ xin vĩnh trú. Đôi khi, mọi vấn đề lại được giải quyết theo những cách không ngờ tới.
